Itinerary: Constância l Vila Nova da Barquinha
Learn about the inspiration and work of Luís de Camões on a one-day tour dedicated to this great figure of Portuguese literature. The town of Constância and the Tagus River reveal the symbolic universe present in his work. Discover also Vila Nova da Barquinha and the emblematic Almourol Castle, a testament to the country's medieval history.
PROGRAM: Morning: Constancy
Constância is a historic town with a deep connection to Luís de Camões , author of Os Lusíadas , one of the greatest works of Portuguese literature. The town, situated on the banks of the Tagus River, is mentioned by Camões in several passages and is a place full of literary symbolism. Constância is also known as the "Poem Town," and its connection to nature and the Tagus River is a direct inspiration for many of Camões' verses.
A visit to the Camões Memorial House and Garden , which offers information about the poet's life, his travels, and his masterpiece, Os Lusíadas .
A leisurely stroll along the banks of the Tagus River offers a direct connection to the landscape that so inspired Camões, with beautiful viewpoints and tranquil spots.
Afternoon: Vila Nova da Barquinha
A stroll through Vila Nova da Barquinha , a riverside village marked by the presence of the Tagus River as a means of communication and defense.
Guided tour of Almourol Castle , a medieval castle built in the 12th century by the Knights Templar. Located on an islet in the middle of the Tagus River, access is by boat. During this tour we will have the opportunity to learn more about the history of the Templars in Portugal.
In the late afternoon, I return to my place of origin.

To be able to keep up with a group at an average walking pace on sometimes uneven terrain and occasional stairs.
