Join us on a unique journey that will immerse you in the traditions, culture, and festivities of Carnival in Ourense, Verín, and Xinzo de Limia, known as the Magic Triangle of Galicia. In addition to witnessing the vibrant Galician Carnival parades, our trip offers the opportunity to explore picturesque towns and historic villages and enjoy the delicious local cuisine. Prepare for an unforgettable experience as we celebrate Carnival in the heart of Galicia and unveil the magic of this festive season.

PROGRAM


Day 1: Keys


Morning: Departure from the places of origin to Chaves (~ 5h30). Lunch in Peso da Régua.

Afternoon: Discover Chaves with a walking tour through the medieval quarter, the Castle , which offers panoramic views over the city and the Tâmega River, and the Roman Bridge , built in the 1st century, a testament to Chaves' importance as a strategic point throughout the centuries.

It will include: Dinner at a local restaurant. Accommodation at the 4-star Forte de São Francisco hotel in Chaves.


Day 2: Verin


Morning: Departure for Verín (~ 30 min). Visit to Monterrei Castle . A 14th-century fortification that played a strategic role in defending the border between Portugal and Spain. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Participation in the Entrudo de Verín festivities , famous for their pagan celebrations , flour battles, and masked parades.

It will include: Dinner at a local restaurant. Accommodation at the 4-star Forte de São Francisco hotel in Chaves.


Day 3: Ribeira Sacra | Cañon do Síl


Morning: Departure towards Ribeira Sacra (~ 2h) , a stunning region in Galicia, famous for its deep gorges formed by the Sil and Miño rivers, vineyards on steep slopes, and a rich heritage of medieval monasteries . Arrival in Monforte de Lemos , where a visit to its historic center will be made, including the Monastery of San Vicente do Pino, the Castle, and the imposing Parador de Monforte. Typical lunch in Ribeira Sacra.

Afternoon: Boat trip along the Sil River, passing through the famous terraced vineyards. Continue to Ourense (~ 1 hour) with a short panoramic tour of the city.

It will include: Dinner at a local restaurant. Accommodation at the Barceló Ourense 4* hotel. Carnival night entertainment in Ourense (optional).


Day 4: Ourense | Allariz | Xinzo de Limia


Morning: Visit to Ourense and stroll through the historic center. Discover the labyrinthine streets, visit the Plaza Mayor and the Cathedral . Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Departure for Allariz (~30 min). Visit including a stop at the Church of Santa Maria de Allariz and the Monastery of Santo Domingo. Departure for Xinzo de Limia (~30 min). Participation in the Xinzo de Limia Carnival festivities, an ancient tradition of pre-Roman origin, where masked figures with bells roam the streets dancing and spreading joy to everyone.

It will include: Dinner at a local restaurant. Accommodation at the Barceló Ourense 4* hotel.


Day 5: Montalegre


Morning: Departure towards Montalegre (~ 1 hour). Visit to the historic center and Montalegre Castle, a 13th-century medieval fortification considered one of the most mystical places in Portugal and famous for its legends and Friday the 13th festivities. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Return to the places of origin (~ 6h). End of the trip.

Tour by tourist bus.

9 meals with a full menu (Starters or Soup, Main Course, Dessert, Coffee, Wine and Water with meals. Some restaurants offer juices and soft drinks as part of the menu.

Tour guide acting as a company representative.

Local guides for visits and activities.

All the entrances and visits mentioned in the program.

Accommodation at the 4-star Hotel Forte de São Francisco and the 4-star Hotel Barceló Ourense with breakfast.

Liability and personal accident insurance.


PLACES ON THE BUS:

Seats on the bus are pre-assigned based on the order of boarding and the seniority of the sign.

To participate in this itinerary, you must:

  • Feel comfortable with several days of visits and an itinerary that alternates between bus journeys and short walks through the places visited.

  • To be able to keep up with a group at an average walking pace on sometimes uneven terrain and occasional stairs.

  • Being able to follow a moderate-paced program, which may involve getting up early for several days and only arriving at the hotel at the end of the day to have dinner and rest.

  • Feel comfortable following a guide and respecting all instructions given.

  • Tolerate some temperature changes and unstable weather.



ACCOMMODATION:

Accommodation provided at the São Francisco Fort 4* and the Barceló Ourense Hotel 4*. or similar.

If, for reasons beyond our control, accommodation is not possible at the indicated hotels, the alternative accommodation will always be of a similar category, although the services offered by each hotel may vary.
