PROGRAM

Departure from the starting points to Dornes , known for its past linked to the Templars and the Zêzere River. Walking tour of the village discovering its heritage:

- The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sorrows , originally commissioned by Queen Isabel of Aragon, wife of King Dinis, is characterized by a combination of Gothic, Mannerist, and Baroque styles.

- The Dornes Church Museum , which displays a collection of votive candles originating from the large pilgrimages that take place every year in the region.

- Chapel of Saint Anthony , a small temple located near the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sorrows.

- The Tower of Dornes, unusually shaped by its pentagonal plan, was erected by the Templars on the banks of the Zêzere River as a lookout and defense post for the region during the Christian Reconquista. From the top of the Tower, it is possible to enjoy wonderful views of the Zêzere River.

At the end of the morning, a pleasant stroll along the Dornes river beach .

Departure for the Geodetic Center of Portugal , located at Picoto da Melriça, a nine-meter-high masonry pyramid that marks the center of Portugal. From the top of the Geodetic Marker, it is possible to obtain a 360º view over a vast horizon, highlighting the Serra da Lousã and, on a clear day, the Serra da Estrela. Continuation to Lago Azul (Blue Lake ), officially known as Praia Fluvial da Castanheira (Castanheira River Beach), situated on the banks of the Zêzere River in the Castelo de Bode reservoir, known for its transparent waters and the beauty of the surrounding scenery. Brief visit to the town of Ferreira do Zêzere before returning to the starting points.
