The literary route "Writers in the Center" proposes an inspiring journey through the places that shaped the lives and works of some of the most important Portuguese authors. Along the way, visitors are invited to explore territories where landscape, memory, and identity intertwine with literary creation, giving rise to unique universes deeply rooted in the Portuguese context. From tranquil villages to mountain towns, this experience highlights the relationship between lived space and writing, revealing how the interior of the country transforms into literary material.
Day 1: Condeixa-a-Nova | Viseu
Morning: Departure from the places of origin to Condeixa-a-Nova . Visit to the Fernando Namora House Museum , dedicated to the doctor and neorealist writer whose work reflects the experiences of the Portuguese interior, crossing literature and social intervention. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon: Continue to Viseu . Stroll through the historic center , considered one of the best preserved in the country, where medieval streets and a rich artistic and religious heritage stand out, testifying to the region's cultural importance throughout the centuries.

Day 2: Moimenta da Beira | Vila Nova de Paiva
Morning: Departure for Moimenta da Beira . Visit to the Aquilino Ribeiro Foundation , a space dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of the life and work of an important 20th-century writer, deeply connected to the landscapes, traditions, and identity of Beira Alta. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon: Continuation to Vila Nova de Paiva . Route along the Aquilino Ribeiro Route , evoking a notable 20th-century writer. Discovering the rural and human universe portrayed by the author, where the Beira Alta region emerges as a living setting of traditions, conflicts, and intensely Portuguese characters. Free time to stroll through the Arbustos do Demo Botanical Park , located in the former Queiriga forest nurseries. With over a thousand botanical species, paths through woods and water areas.

Day 3: Guard | Melo

Afternoon: Continuation to Melo . Visit to Casa Vergílio Ferreira - Para Sempre , where the writer lived and found inspiration for his writing, marked by introspection, existential questioning, and the relationship between man and landscape.

Day 4: In them
Morning: Departure for Nelas . Route along the António Lobo Antunes Route , a prominent contemporary writer whose work reveals narrative complexity and analysis of the human condition, marked by memories of war and the anxieties of the modern world. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon: Return to the places of origin.

To be able to keep up with a group at an average walking pace on sometimes uneven terrain and occasional stairs.
Being able to follow a moderate-paced program, which may involve getting up early for several days and only arriving at the hotel at the end of the day to have dinner and rest.
Feel comfortable following a guide and respecting all instructions given.
Tolerate some temperature changes and unstable weather.
