PROGRAM:

Day 1: Santa Cruz do Douro | Peso da Régua

Morning: Journey to Santa Cruz do Douro, the place that inspired Eça de Queirós. Visit Quinta de Covela, where you'll learn about the region's organic wines and enjoy a wine tasting. Take a stroll through the gardens and areas of the estate, offering stunning views of the Douro.

Afternoon: Scenic drive to Peso da Régua, passing through vineyards and iconic viewpoints. Arrival in Peso da Régua and visit to the Douro Museum, where you’ll explore the history and culture of wine in the region. A leisurely walk along the Douro River.

Evening: Dinner at a local restaurant with traditional dishes. Overnight stay at a hotel in the Douro region.

 

Day 2: Pinhão | Provesende | Favaios

Morning: Depart from Peso da Régua via the N-222, considered one of the most beautiful roads in the world. Arrive in Pinhão and embark on a river cruise to Romaneira (1-hour duration), enjoying the UNESCO-listed vineyard slopes. Lunch at a local restaurant, with typical regional dishes like rice with sausages or Portuguese stew.

Afternoon: Continue to the historic village of Provesende for a walk through the center and visit to the main church. Head to Favaios, known for its muscat wines. Visit the Favaios Cooperative Winery with a wine tasting.

Evening: Dinner and overnight stay in Tabuaço.

 

Day 3: Barcos | Armamar

Morning: Guided tour through the historic center of Barcos, one of the Wine Villages of Portugal, with a visit to the main church and the old wine presses carved into the rock.

Afternoon: Visit to Quinta do Monte Travesso, where participants can join in the grape harvest experience (grape picking and foot treading). Wine pairing lunch at the estate, featuring local wines and products. Continue to Armamar, with a walk through the historic center and an explanation of the town’s connection to apple and quality wine production.

Evening: Dinner at a local restaurant, with dishes inspired by local flavors. Return and overnight stay in Tabuaço.

 

Day 4: Salzedas | Ucanha | Tarouca

Morning: Discover the village of Salzedas, with a visit to the Monastery of Santa Maria de Salzedas, one of the most important Cistercian monasteries in Portugal. Take a walk through the small Jewish quarter of the village.

Afternoon: Continue to Ucanha, where you'll visit the Ucanha Tower, the Abadia Velha, and the Fortified Bridge, considered unique in Portugal. Visit Quinta da Murganheira for a sparkling wine tasting. End the afternoon with a visit to the Monastery of S. João de Tarouca, a monument connected to the beginning of Cistercian monasticism in the country.

Evening: Dinner and overnight stay in Tabuaço, ensuring comfort and tranquility.

 

Day 5: Lamego

Morning: Visit the historic center of Lamego, with highlights including the medieval Castle and the Gothic-style Lamego Cathedral. Climb to the iconic Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies, with the opportunity to explore the gardens and monumental staircase.

Afternoon: Trip back to your departure locations.
