Itinerary: Lisbon | Montemor-o-Novo | Évora | Santiago do Escoural | Lavre
On this 2-day trip, we will relive the historical moment that preceded the revolution that took place in Portugal in April 1974. We will experience the atmosphere of that time in great detail, portrayed by José Saramago in *Raised from the Ground* through a powerful narrative. We will be able to visit some of the places where his characters fought against the landowners, against fascism, and against the Church. Discover one of the most remarkable works of the author José Saramago, retracing the path of the characters in the book, explore a region off the beaten tourist track, following in the author's footsteps, and remember the places and lives of the men, women, and children of the Alentejo region, in a past but not forgotten time, who contributed to the overthrow of the fascist regime.
PROGRAM:
Day 1: Lisbon | Montemor-o-Novo
Morning: Journey from the places of origin to Lisbon. Visit to the José Saramago Foundation and the Aljube Museum , where it is possible to explore the author's connection to the Alentejo region and the historical context of *Levantado do Chão*. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon: Continue to Montemor-o-Novo with a guided tour of passages from the book, passing through the historic center, castle ruins, and agricultural fields. The day ends with a typical Alentejo dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2: Évora | Santiago do Escoural | Lavre
Morning: Visit to the historic center of Évora, where emblematic locations are linked to passages from Levantado do Chão. Continue to Santiago do Escoural, exploring its historic center and the rural atmosphere that reflects the universe of the work. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon: In Lavre , a walking tour leads to Ponte Cava, immersing you in the Alentejo landscape and the symbolism of rural workers. Return to your place of origin after a day marked by cultural and literary richness.

Feel comfortable with several days of visits and an itinerary that alternates between bus journeys and short walks through the places visited.
To be able to keep up with a group at an average walking pace on sometimes uneven terrain and occasional stairs.
Being able to follow a moderate-paced program, which may involve getting up early for several days and only arriving at the hotel at the end of the day to have dinner and rest.
Feel comfortable following a guide and respecting all instructions given.
Tolerate some temperature changes and unstable weather.
