This 2-day itinerary through the Alqueva Lake region offers an immersion in the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Alentejo. The adventure begins in Monsaraz, a picturesque medieval village with endless views of the lake, followed by a visit to São Pedro do Corval, famous for its pottery artisans. In Alqueva, visitors can enjoy the vast landscapes and tranquility provided by the lake. The journey continues in Moura, known for its rich history and castle, and Portel, a charming Alentejan village. The itinerary culminates at Herdade do Esporão, where winemaking tradition meets modernity, offering a unique experience of wine tasting and local products. A true celebration of Alentejo's nature and culture.

PROGRAM:


Day 1: S. Pedro do Corval | Monsaraz | Alqueva

Morning: Journey from the departure points to S. Pedro do Corval, the largest pottery center on the Iberian Peninsula. Walking tour and visit to some of the pottery galleries and centers. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Next, visit the Monsaraz Castle. On the way to Alqueva Lake, stop at the Cromeleque do Xerez. Boat trip on the waters of Alqueva Lake, the largest artificial lake in Europe. After dinner, head to the Dark Sky Alqueva headquarters in the village of Cumeada for a unique evening observing the moon, planets, and star constellations.

Evening: Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel.


 

Day 2: Moura | Portel | Herdade do Esporão

Morning: Visit Moura to explore the Castle, a fortification dating back to the medieval period, offering panoramic views. Stroll through the historic center to visit the Main Church, the Chapel of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, and the Municipal Museum. In Portel, visit the Castle, a medieval fortress providing stunning views over the village and Alqueva Dam. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Guided tour of Herdade do Esporão, including a walk around the estate to learn about wine production and the history of the property. Wine tasting and regional products. Return to the departure points.
