The Gold and Filigree Route offers a cultural and historical immersion in the territory where gold extraction and filigree craftsmanship flourished: Paredes, Póvoa de Lanhoso, Travassos, Gondomar, culminating in the vibrant city of Porto. Along the journey, the fascinating Castromil and Banjas Mines stand out, revealing the region's mineral wealth. The visit to the Filigree Interpretation Centre and the Aurélio & Monteiro factory provides a unique insight into the art of gold jewelry, while the Gold Museum showcases the heritage and tradition of this noble craft. The filigree workshop at CINDOR offers a hands-on and enriching experience.

PROGRAMME

Day 1: Paredes | Guimarães

Morning: Departure from the origin points. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: The tour begins with a visit to the Castromil and Banjas Gold Mines Interpretation Centre, a site with significant remains of gold mining from the Roman occupation period. The visit continues with a guided tour of the Castromil Mines, an ancient mining exploration site. A walk through the historic center of Guimarães.

Evening: Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Póvoa de Lanhoso | Travassos

Morning: Departure to Póvoa de Lanhoso for a guided tour of the Filigree Interpretation Room. Next, a gold workshop at Aurélio & Monteiro factory in Sobradelo da Goma, one of the villages where the tradition of filigree is still alive, through the work of local artisans. Lunch in Póvoa de Lanhoso.

Afternoon: Continue to Travassos for a guided visit to the Gold Museum. Return to Guimarães.

Evening: Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Gondomar | Porto

Morning: Departure to Gondomar, known as the Capital of Goldsmithing. Filigree holds a prominent place among the creations of local goldsmiths, traditionally crafted in small, family-owned workshops using techniques passed down through generations. Visit to the Municipal Filigree Museum. Followed by a filigree workshop with the creation of a piece at CINDOR. Journey to Porto with lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Free time in Porto. Return to the origin points.

INDIVIDUAL BOOKINGS

The booking process begins by filling out the booking form, indicating the desired itinerary and dates. You can access the booking form by clicking here.
Wait for our confirmation email with the program and details for the deposit payment.
Make the deposit payment within 5 days as per the amount specified for each itinerary in order to confirm your booking. If there is no contact or deposit payment, the reservation will be canceled.
The remaining balance must be paid no later than 30 days before the departure date.

The deposit paid can be fully refunded up to 30 days before departure.From 30 to 15 days before departure, 50% of the deposit will be retained.From 14 to 0 days before departure, 100% of the deposit will be retained.

Full Payment Refund

If the full trip has been paid, the cancellation conditions are as follows:• Up to 30 days before departure – Full refund of the amount paid.• From 29 to 15 days before departure – 50% of the amount paid will be retained.• From 14 to 0 days before departure – 100% of the amount paid will be retained.

The full payment for the booking and submission of all required information must be completed 30 days before departure date.

Bookings up to 30 days before departure

The prices quoted include:

Tour by coach.

7 meals with a full menu (starters or soup, main course, dessert, coffee, wine and water at mealtimes. Some restaurants offer juices and soft drinks on the menu.

SEATS ON THE BUS:

Seats on the bus are pre-allocated in order of where you get on the bus and date of deposit payment.

RYTHM: Medium

To take part in this route, you should:

Feel comfortable with several days of visits and an itinerary that alternates bus journeys and short walks in the places visited.
Be able to accompany a group at an average walking pace on sometimes uneven ground and with occasional stairs.
Being able to follow a medium-paced programme, which may involve getting up early on several days and only arriving at the hotel at the end of the day for dinner and a rest.
Feel comfortable accompanying a guide and respect all the instructions given.
Tolerate some temperature changes and unstable weather.
