This tour through the Guadiana Valley unveils the charming towns of Serpa, Mértola, Alcoutim, Odeleite, and Castro Marim, offering a journey through the history and landscapes of southeastern Portugal, with a perfect blend of culture and nature. With guided tours led by local experts, participants will have the opportunity to explore the architectural and cultural heritage of these historic towns, such as the Serpa Castle and the medieval village of Mértola. The highlight is a full-day cruise along the Guadiana River, with a stop for a delicious lunch in Foz de Odeleite, providing a unique experience on the peaceful waters that divide Portugal and Spain.

PROGRAM

Day 1: Serpa | Mértola

Morning: Departure from the starting point. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Walking tour through the narrow and peaceful streets of Serpa, with its whitewashed houses. Visit to the Castle, Aqueduct, Walls, and Ethnographic Center. Continue to Mértola, a town overlooking the Guadiana Natural Park. In Mértola, explore the rich historical heritage of the city, including the Castle, Alcáçova, Main Church (Former Moorish Mosque), Clock Tower, Roman House, and Paleo-Christian Basilica.

Evening: Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Alcoutim | Castro Marim

Morning: Visit to Alcoutim, a town located on the banks of the Guadiana River, which forms the border between Portugal and Spain. Alcoutim dates back to Roman times, evident in its narrow streets, churches, and ancient buildings. The medieval castle is one of the city's main attractions, along with the Municipal Museum, which houses a collection of historical and archaeological artifacts from the region. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Continue to Castro Marim for a pleasant stroll through the historic center, including visits to the Castle, São Sebastião Fort, and Main Church.

Evening: Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Cruise on the Guadiana River

Morning: Trip to Vila Real de Santo António for embarkation. Boat ride on the Guadiana River between Portugal and Spain, heading upstream from Vila Real de Santo António, to appreciate the natural beauty of the Guadiana and its riverside villages. Disembark at the village of Foz de Odeleite for a walking tour. Arrive at the beautiful Quinta do Rio, with views over the River and village. After a refreshing swim, enjoy a delicious barbecue accompanied by regional wine and live music.

Afternoon: Return to the starting point.

3. Efectuar pagamento da sinalização no valor estabelecido para cada roteiro, no prazo de 5 dias, para que a reserva seja considerada efectiva. Na falta de contacto e pagamento da sinalização, consideraremos a reserva sem efeito.

4. O restante valor deverá ser pago, no máximo, até 30 dias antes da data da partida.

Devolução do sinal

A devolução do sinal pago poderá ser feita integralmente até 30 dias antes da partida.

De 30 a 15 dias antes da partida, retenção de 50% do sinal pago.

De 14 a 0 dias antes da partida, retenção de 100 % do sinal pago.

Devolução do pagamento integral da viagem

Com a totalidade da viagem paga, as condições de cancelamento são as seguintes

• Até aos 30 dias antes da partida – Devolução da totalidade do valor pago.

• De 29 a 15 dias antes da partida – Retenção de 50% do valor pago;

• De 14 a 0 dias antes da partida – Retenção de 100% do valor pago.

1. O processo de reserva é iniciado com o preenchimento do nosso formulário de reserva, indicando o circuito desejado, as datas e o número de participantes. Certifique-se de indicar claramente o nome do representante do grupo, bem como os seus contactos completos. Os contactos dos participantes do circuito serão comunicados mais tarde.

2. Aguardar a confirmação da sua reserva por e-mail, junto com o envio dos documentos necessários.

3. Reunião para personalização do roteiro (se necessário)

3. Enviar à Culturália todos os documentos e ficheiros necessários para a reserva (incluindo os contactos completos dos participantes), respeitando os prazos indicados.

4. A sua reserva de grupo só será efectiva após o pagamento do sinal indicado para o circuito desejado.

5. O pagamento do valor total da reserva e o envio de todas as informações necessárias devem estar concluídos 30 dias antes da data de partida.

Bookings up to 30 days before departure

The prices quoted include:

Tour by coach.

7 meals with a full menu (starters or soup, main course, dessert, coffee, wine and water at mealtimes. Some restaurants offer juices and soft drinks on the menu.

SEATS ON THE BUS:

Seats on the bus are pre-allocated in order of where you get on the bus and date of deposit payment.

RYTHM: Medium

To take part in this route, you should:

Feel comfortable with several days of visits and an itinerary that alternates bus journeys and short walks in the places visited.
Be able to accompany a group at an average walking pace on sometimes uneven ground and with occasional stairs.
Being able to follow a medium-paced programme, which may involve getting up early on several days and only arriving at the hotel at the end of the day for dinner and a rest.
Feel comfortable accompanying a guide and respect all the instructions given.
Tolerate some temperature changes and unstable weather.
