The 3-day themed tour, The Mystery of the Templars, unravels the fascinating legacy of the Knights Templar in Portugal. From the monuments of Tomar, such as the Convent of Christ and the Church of Santa Maria dos Olivais, to the mysterious Almourol Castle, built on an island in the Tagus River, each stop offers an opportunity to explore the narratives, symbols, and cultural influence left by the Templars. Stunning landscapes, like those of the Castelo de Bode Dam, and historic villages, such as Dornes, complete the experience. Get ready to uncover the secrets and mysteries of one of the most enigmatic orders of the Middle Ages!

PROGRAMME:

Day 1: Tomar

Morning: Departure from the starting points. Arrival in Tomar, with a guided tour of the Convento de Cristo, a UNESCO World Heritage monument, and the Church of Santa Maria dos Olivais, the former headquarters of the Templar Order and the pantheon of its masters. Lunch at a local restaurant with regional specialties.

Afternoon: Stroll through the historic center of Tomar, with a visit to the Church of São João Baptista and the Praça da República, the heart of the city and a place of great historical symbolism. Free time in the historic center of Tomar for personal exploration of the city.

Evening: Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 2: Castelo de Bode Dam | Almourol Castle

Morning: Departure to the Castelo de Bode Dam, with a stop at the viewpoint and a walk along the shores of the lake, where the natural beauty of the site complements the grandeur of the engineering work. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Continue to Almourol Castle, with a boat ride to the island and a visit to the interior of the castle, a symbol of the Templar presence in Portugal. Time to explore the riverside landscapes.

Evening: Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 3: Ferreira do Zêzere | Dornes

Morning: Visit to the Lago Azul, with time to enjoy the tranquility of the place, followed by a stop in the historic center of Ferreira do Zêzere, with a focus on the Church of São Miguel. Lunch at a regional restaurant with typical dishes.

Afternoon: Visit the village of Dornes, with emphasis on the Templar Pentagonal Tower, a historical landmark of the Templar presence, and the Church of Nossa Senhora do Pranto, known for the legends surrounding it. Return to the starting points.

Make the deposit payment within 5 days as per the amount specified for each itinerary in order to confirm your booking. If there is no contact or deposit payment, the reservation will be canceled.
The remaining balance must be paid no later than 30 days before the departure date.

The deposit paid can be fully refunded up to 30 days before departure.From 30 to 15 days before departure, 50% of the deposit will be retained.From 14 to 0 days before departure, 100% of the deposit will be retained.

Full Payment Refund

If the full trip has been paid, the cancellation conditions are as follows:• Up to 30 days before departure – Full refund of the amount paid.• From 29 to 15 days before departure – 50% of the amount paid will be retained.• From 14 to 0 days before departure – 100% of the amount paid will be retained.

SEATS ON THE BUS:

Seats on the bus are pre-allocated in order of where you get on the bus and date of deposit payment.

To take part in this route, you should:

Feel comfortable with several days of visits and an itinerary that alternates bus journeys and short walks in the places visited.
Be able to accompany a group at an average walking pace on sometimes uneven ground and with occasional stairs.
Being able to follow a medium-paced programme, which may involve getting up early on several days and only arriving at the hotel at the end of the day for dinner and a rest.
Feel comfortable accompanying a guide and respect all the instructions given.
Tolerate some temperature changes and unstable weather.
