This 2-day itinerary in the Serra de Sicó region takes travelers on a fascinating journey through history and nature. PROGRAM
Day 1: Conímbriga Archaeological Complex | PO.RO.S Museum | Serra de Sicó
Morning: Departure from the starting point. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon: Guided tour of the Conímbriga Archaeological Complex, which contains evidence of a settlement inhabited since the Neolithic, Chalcolithic, and Bronze Age, with Celtic and Roman presence. Continue to visit PO.RO.S - Museum of Roman Portugal in Sicó. Jeep tour in the Serra de Sicó (Outeiro rotating mills, Olhos de Água do Anços, Serra do Sicó viewpoint, Chapel of Senhora da Estrela, Buracas de Casmilo) and Rabaçal, to taste the renowned sheep's cheese.
Evening: Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 2: Taliscas Caves | Santiago da Guarda | Pombal
Morning: Departure to Taliscas for a guided visit to the Algarinho and Talismã Caves, located south of the Dueça River source, among the largest caves in the country. Continue to visit the Santiago da Guarda Monumental Complex, which includes a 15th-century tower, rebuilt on the ruins of a Roman Villa from the 4th and 5th centuries, and a Manueline palace. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon: Visit Pombal Castle, built by Gualdim Pais, Master of the Order of the Temple. Time to visit the Portuguese Popular Art Museum and the Church of São Martinho. Return to the starting point.
