This route through the Montesinho Natural Park invites you to explore the natural and cultural beauties of the northeast of Trás-os-Montes, highlighting Bragança, the Montesinho Natural Park and its villages, Vinhais, and the Azibo Reservoir. Along the way, you will discover the mountains and forests of the natural park and the picturesque villages that maintain the authenticity of the region. The itinerary offers a unique experience, combining the rich local gastronomy, the historical heritage of Bragança, and the authenticity of the villages, providing moments of discovery and contemplation.
PROGRAM:
Day 1: Bragança
Morning: Journey from the starting points. Lunch during the trip.
Afternoon: The itinerary begins with a walking tour of Bragança , including the Castle , one of the most imposing medieval monuments in the country; the Domus Municipalis, a unique stone construction and example of Romanesque civil architecture in Portugal; and the Church of Santa Maria, within the city walls, which reveals the city's religious history. A stroll through the Historic Center of Bragança and the Cathedral. Free time to explore the streets and cultural offerings of the city.
It will include: Dinner and hotel accommodation.
Day 2: Montesinho Natural Park
Morning: Panoramic tour of the Montesinho Natural Park , one of the best-preserved protected areas in Portugal, with vast green landscapes and typical villages. Visit to the historic village of Rio d'Onor, known for its location on the border with Spain and its unique community traditions. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon: Interpretive visit to the village of Montesinho to discover the region's traditional architecture, with its stone and schist houses, and the rural way of life of its inhabitants.
It will be: Return to Bragança. Dinner and accommodation at a hotel.
Day 3: Vinhais | Azibo Reservoir
Morning: Travel to Vinhais. Visit to the Vinhais Biological Park , where you can learn about the local flora and fauna, with educational trails and areas dedicated to biodiversity preservation. Visit to the Smoked Meat Museum. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon: On the return to the places of origin, a brief stop at the tranquil Azibo Reservoir , a leisure area with river beaches, to relax and appreciate the surrounding landscape.
Returning to my place of origin.

To take part in this route, you should:
Feel comfortable with several days of visits and an itinerary that alternates bus journeys and short walks in the places visited.
Be able to accompany a group at an average walking pace on sometimes uneven ground and with occasional stairs.
Being able to follow a medium-paced programme, which may involve getting up early on several days and only arriving at the hotel at the end of the day for dinner and a rest.
Feel comfortable accompanying a guide and respect all the instructions given.
Tolerate some temperature changes and unstable weather.
