Itinerary: Escaroupim | Salvaterra de Magos


Wild Tagus invites you to discover a territory where nature, riverside traditions, and heritage meet in perfect harmony. Throughout this one-day tour, passing through riverside villages, boat trips, and cultural sites, you will have the opportunity to experience the authenticity of Escaroupim, explore the natural richness of the Tagus River, and discover ancestral traditions that continue to shape the identity of this region.

Morning: Scararoupim


A journey to the origins of riverside traditions, with a visit to the riverside village of Escaroupim . This small village, marked by its typical wooden houses raised on stilts, known as palhotas, bears witness to the history of the fishing communities that settled here, coming from the coast.

A leisurely boat trip along the "Avieiros Route" on the Tagus River follows , showcasing the diverse flora and fauna. A visit to the Escaroupim and the River Museum , a space dedicated to preserving Avieiro culture and depicting the daily life of these communities, is also included. Lunch at a local restaurant is provided.


Afternoon: Salvaterra de Magos


The afternoon continues with a visit to the Royal Falconry Museum , a space dedicated to the ancestral art of falconry, classified as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Here it is possible to learn about the history of this practice linked to Portuguese royalty, as well as observe various birds of prey up close. Free time follows in Salvaterra de Magos , a town with a strong Ribatejo tradition, where the Tagus River continues to shape the landscape and rhythm of life. Return to the places of origin.

  • Feel comfortable with several days of visits and an itinerary that alternates between bus journeys and short walks in the historical centers of the places visited.

  • To be able to keep up with a group at an average walking pace on sometimes uneven terrain and occasional stairs.

  • Feel comfortable following a guide and respecting all instructions given.

  • Tolerate some temperature changes and unstable weather.
