The route through the Lima Valley offers a journey through the towns situated along the banks of this river, each with its own character and charm. From the iconic granaries of Lindoso and Soajo, which reflect the region's agricultural tradition, to the historic medieval bridge of Ponte da Barca, the stops reveal the rich cultural heritage that unites these communities. In Arcos de Valdevez, the riverside area invites leisure, while Ponte de Lima boasts a historic center full of life and history. The journey culminates in Viana do Castelo, where the Sanctuary of Santa Luzia and the Costume Museum highlight the region's cultural heritage.
PROGRAM:
Day 1: Soajo | Lindoso
Morning: Journey from the starting points to the Peneda-Gerês National Park . Lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon: The tour begins in the village of Soajo. Visit the Soajo Granaries , one of the largest sets of granaries in northern Portugal, offering insight into the region's ancestral agricultural practices. Continue to Lindoso , with a visit to the Castle , which offers panoramic views of the region and a bit of local history. Visit the Lindoso Granaries, which are equally impressive and serve as a testament to rural life in the Serra da Peneda.
It will include: Dinner and hotel accommodation.
Day 2: Arcos de Valdevez | Ponte da Barca | Ponte de Lima
Morning: In Arcos de Valdevez, explore the riverside area with a walk to appreciate the local natural beauty. Visit the Church of São Salvador and the pillory . Continue to Ponte da Barca. Visit the Medieval Bridge of Ponte da Barca and the Church of São João Baptista. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon: Visit to Ponte de Lima , a charming town notable for its famous Roman bridge over the Lima River. Stroll through the historic center, visiting the Church of Santo António da Piedade.
It will include: Dinner and hotel accommodation.
Day 3: Viana do Castelo
Morning: Departure for Viana do Castelo. Start of the visit at the Sanctuary of Santa Luzia, from where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the city and the coast. Time to explore the church and its beautiful gardens. Stroll through the historic center, visiting the Church of Mercy and the Costume Museum, where you can learn more about the rich culture and traditions of the region. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon: Return to the starting points.

To take part in this route, you should:
Feel comfortable with several days of visits and an itinerary that alternates bus journeys and short walks in the places visited.
Be able to accompany a group at an average walking pace on sometimes uneven ground and with occasional stairs.
Being able to follow a medium-paced programme, which may involve getting up early on several days and only arriving at the hotel at the end of the day for dinner and a rest.
Feel comfortable accompanying a guide and respect all the instructions given.
Tolerate some temperature changes and unstable weather.
